Carnaval twinchy.

A looooong time ago I came across a whole box full of old slide mounts in my local recycling centre. Some were card some plastic but this fabulous box was simply glass. The other wonderful thing about them is they are exactly 2"x 2" or twinchy size. I put them away and sort of left them as, once the initial excitement of finding them wore off I didn't really know what to do with them. Some of the plastic ones I've covered or painted and used on layouts but these glass ones really had me in a tizz!

I was looking for a project to create an altered item for Theresa's challenge on
Scrappy Accents and thought again about my glass slide mounts. The orange paper surround didn't do it for me so that had to come off by soaking. Then I created my twinchy and sandwiched it between the glass and a chipboard backing. Out came the copper tape and the soldering kit (used only once before) and I set to work. The soldering isn't the best in the world but hey I'm not a plumber or engineer here!

I've also entered this piece for this weeks Wednesday Stampers challenge which is "Carnaval". The picture on the twinchy is me when I was about 6 dressed up for a carnaval parade. I remember it well and I remember my mum making the costume for me.

Anyway, hope you like my little twinchy.

Happy Carnaval.

Being spoilt.

At Wednesday Stampers this week, the challenge set by Belinda is 'spoil me'.

I feel spoilt enough already as Hubby is away in Africa for 3 weeks leaving me to spend quality crafty time in my workshop more than usual. I've had a cinema night out with the girlies and felt generally relaxed about doing housework etc!! I do miss him something rotten especially as the first week of his departure things didn't go to plan at all, but now things have settled down a bit I've been totally spoiling myself!

Following a discussion recently about UTEE, I thought it was time I got it back out again and after covering the tag with the UTEE, I took a friends advice and put it in the freezer to go thoroughly cold, then took it out and cracked it. I had a slight panic attack when I covered it in black acrylic paint hoping it would go into the cracks. A few swipes with baby wipes later and it looked pretty good.

Catching up with journal pages.

I've been catching up with my journal entry's, trying not to miss any out. It's now weeks 5 and 6 at Tea on the Terrace and these are my pages.

Cracks in my Gothic Arch

The theme this week on Gothic Arches is Crackle. I hope I didn't go too over the top with my cracks on the background of this arch but I loved creating it.

In search of a warmer place!

After another few days of wintery weather, it's nice to escape to a place sunnier and more pleasant. Sadly, the holiday in the sun isn't an option at the moment so the only escape is a few hours at the computer scrapping a layout which reminds me of the summer days in my garden. It did help for a short while and cheered me up during a low point.

The layout has been submitted for this weeks Scrappy Accents challenge laid down by DT member Sharon. She's provided a great sketch to follow so have a go.

Scrap a la Fraise calendar workshop

Saturday I had the chance to take a workshop with a very talented group in France called Scrap a la Fraise. Jess showed us how to make this calendar which I just love. Lena and I had to leave early due to a snow storm but I managed to finish it off over the weekend.

I haven't shown all of the pages as that'll be too long a post so I've shown a selection of my favourite layouts.

A new Scrappy Accents layout.

January has gone already and here we are at the beginning of a new month.

For the new sketch at Scrappy Accents
I've produced this digital layout.

It's a more graphic layout than I'm used to doing but I wanted to try using a photo as a background.

You can go to Scrappy Accents to see the sketch for yourself and have a go.
