Books.

This is my card this week for the Wednesday Stampers challenge this week which is 'books'.  The background is made from an old book page covered with gesso and painted with watercolour paint, Glimmer Mist and Distress inks before being stamped with a library card stamp from Maya Road.  The overlay is from Hambly and the title is cut from the Cricut.

Have a good day....

My Stamp Box blog hop on friday.

I'm just slightly looking forward to friday - nah who am I kidding - I'm so excited I'm driving everyone around me potty. It's the first day of my term as a member of the My Stamp Box Design Team.
The day will be marked with a blog hop, starting and ending at the My Stamp Box blog.  Each existing member will introduce a new member and anyone who leaves a comment on all the DT members blogs and on the My Stamp Box blog, has a chance to win a fantastic prize of a set of stamps.

So join me and the other members of the Design Team for fun and inspiration.

The Journal pages haven't been forgotten.

You'd be forgiven for thinking that I'd lost interest in the art journals as I haven't been posting any pictures for ages. In fact I've actually been adding to them almost weekly over the summer, it's just that I had so many other projects on the go I didn't want to bore the pants off you with my journal pages as well!

Anyway I thought I'd post a few of my favourites as a 'show and tell'. So here they are........

Steam Punk?

Steam Punk - what is it?  It didn't feature in the dictionary and a quick Google search led to some quite odd places, but basically it's a fantasy world where mechanical, victorian steam powered technology meets the future. Kind of like what the Victorians would have imagined to be science fiction. My search, however, did show some sites where Steam Punk is a big fashion statement with lots of Victorian inspired clothing mixed with lace and metal.
This is the thread I decided to go with when creating these two fabric ATC's.  My studs around the outside are french knots and I've included some black lace and a bit of hardware.
The reason I'm delving into the world of Steam Punk is because this is the theme this week on Wednesday Stampers. I'd already started these ATC's which are destined to be posted to Canada pretty soon, so I just adapted them to the theme (once I'd got a handle on what it was all about).

Something special.

At last I'm able to tell you that from October to April I am going to be part of the Design Team for My Stamp Box a stamp company who produce extreemly cute and versatile clear stamps.  I'm very much looking forward to being part of this talented team and work with their fabulous products. The work in their gallery section is awsome.

I'm going to post a link in the side bar to the other members of the team so you can see for yourself how talented these people are.

Going dotty.

This week I was surprised and pleased to find my entry for last weeks Wednesday Stampers challenge on their sampler. I thank Hermine for making me smile.
This week the theme is polka dots which has been chosen by Belinda.  I put this card together for a friends birthday and the little black dress has been made from felt and the sequins are part of a huge stash of pretty girlie sequins I bought while on holiday.

Black and pink.

This is my card for challenge number 43 at Creative Inspirations challenge blog where the challenge is to use the colours black and pink. Chosen by Mandy, the challenge has been sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps who are offering some digital stamps as a prize.

Have a good weekend

Inspiration from the sea.

Today I stepped out of my comfort zone totally and inspired by a challenge thrown down by our designer Sharon on Scrappy Accents which was to paint a title on a layout, I created this page. As I usually create layouts digitally  this would be a challenge all round, but painting has become a firm favourite part of the way I work and so too good an opportunity to miss.

The title was made by masking with some Heidi Swapp letters and painting over with gesso. Unfortunately it didn't turn out as bold as I'd have liked so I went around the letters with a black marker. The favourite part of the whole layout for me though, is the tangle of threads which have been sewn down randomly then a few beads added  for good measure.

A new challenge

This week I've launched a brand new challenge site (I can hear you groaning - not another challenge site), no wait a minute, read on.....
It'll run every two weeks on a friday so plenty of time to get it together and will be based on a prompt, usually just one word to use as inspiration. You can create anything from an inchy to a layout and more but just using the word as your inspiration.
The place to go to is Scrappy Accents blog
Please join in, it should be alot of fun. The first challenge is "ice-cream" and here's my ATC.

The rest of the holiday journal

This is to prove that I actually did take all that stuff on holiday with me.  There was a bit of grumbling when I tried to sneak it into the car but really I don't know what all the fuss was about, we had plenty of room!!

So here's the rest of it;

It's a bit of an ongoing project as the remaining pages will be more like scrapbook pages and hold some photo's.

Holiday Journal

Before going on holiday I made myself a travel journal to take with me and anticipating bad weather at some point (it was Brittany in  France) I took my craft box much to my husbands amusement.
I'll post the rest of the book in a further post, but for the moment I'm posting this page as this week the challenge at  Wednesday Stampers is shells.

Creative Inspirations challenge 42

I almost didn't make this one but this is my card for the new challenge at Creative Inspirations challenge blog
where the challenge is to create a card which is anything but square.  I made it before I left and photographed it so it would be ready to post when I got back.  Talk about "skin of teeth"!!
The challenge has been set by Dawn and the prize up for grabs this time is from Fantastic Ribbons who have kindly donated A Huge bag of Assorted Buttons. I seriously wish they could be mine.

Autumn mini

Two weeks of holiday on the coast of France - what bliss.  We had a brilliant time and now I'm back to it armed with lots of cool ideas.  It is nice to be home though and I'm even glad to see the washing machine!!

Anyway, before I left I mailed out my mini album to June in the UK which she received while I was away, so now I can show you in full.  It's been made using alot of different recycled materials such as card, envelopes, flowers and bits of fabric etc.
